Randall L. Braddom, MD Distinguished Clinician 1997

Dr. Braddom is a physiatrist with the Orthopedics, Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center in Red Bank, New Jersey. He edits what is arguably the most popular rehabilitation textbook: Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

For two pivotal years from 1989 to 1991, Dr. Braddom acted as MossRehab’s Vice President of Medical Affairs and Einstein’s Chairman of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. “At that time, medical institutions were learning they couldn’t survive alone. Moss joined Einstein Healthcare Network and began leveraging economies of scale that helped assure its future,” he explained. Dr. Braddom participated in what he termed a “strong, smart” board that applied business principles to medicine, developing strategic plans and setting targets toward a secure financial standing.

During his MossRehab tenure, Dr. Braddom built
the cohesiveness of the medical staff to further enhance MossRehab’s missions. As the concentrated team pursued collaborative teaching and clinical care during extended stints with familiar staff, research partnerships developed quickly, spurring the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute’s creation. Dr. Braddom identifies superb teamwork as MossRehab’s greatest strength. “Superior staff quality and cooperation at every level of the rehab process – not machines – are what help patients improve,” he emphasizes.
