The American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation bestows its Distinguished Clinician award yearly on a select few physiatrists who demonstrate outstanding musculoskeletal patient care, exceptional teaching skills and significant contributions to the specialty. Alberto Esquenazi, MD, Chairman, PM&R, MossRehab, and Albert Einstein Medical Center, received the honor this November. He is the most recently recognized in a long lineage of clinicians, researchers, teachers and staff at MossRehab who make groundbreaking differences not only in the field at large but to each individual who entrusts MossRehab with his or her care.
Dr. Esquenazi, with MossRehab for more than 20 years, dons many coats, directing the Gait and Motion Analysis Laboratory, the Prosthetic and Orthotic Clinic and Moss Regional Amputee Center clinical care. He specializes in movement analysis with a substantial focus on the biomechanics of movement to help people with brain injuries, birth defects and other neurological conditions that impede movement. He also conducts research, teaches and performs clinical work on spasticity.
